Useful donations … for a better quality of life

Thanks to the generosity of donors, over the years our foundation has been able to support a variety of projects throughout Quebec: Granby, Laval, Montreal, Quebec City, Sainte-Thérèse, St-Hyacinthe, Trois-Rivières, Saguenay, etc.

The projects retained, which were presented by groups working directly with the population targeted, all aimed at improving the quality of life of persons with aphasia and at breaking the isolation in which they are all too often confined.

Being in contact with other persons with aphasia is often a first step towards a return to public life. Gradually they realize that they are not alone in living with this tragedy and that it is possible to remake one’s life with aphasia. Experience shows us that in resuming contact with others, persons with aphasia not only develop improved skill at using their residual language ability, they also regain their pride and their integrity.

Because of our efforts, activities for persons with aphasia have come into being:
Ø      music studio
Ø      group kitchen
Ø      home visits
Ø      language workships
Ø      etc.

We know that athose close to persons with aphasia also need a great deal of support. For that reason the Foundation is pleased to encourage projects that make a good deal of room for them.
Ø      individual psychosocial assistance for persons with aphasia and those close to them
Ø      group cultural outcomes with persons with aphasia and those close to them
Ø      group meetings with caregivers

Finally, our Foundation supports initiatives that offer a public voice to persons with aphasia :
Ø      theatrical productions and regional tours by a troupe made up of actors with aphasia
Ø       workshop in visual creation with a group of persons with aphasia, leading to an ambitious public exhibition

We believe that such initiatives are essential
for showing that despite their deficiencies,
persons with aphasia can resume their place within society.
